The 2007 Cote Rotie La Landonne exhibits notes of black olives, graphite, smoked meats, new saddle leather and pepper. Meaty, rich and full-bodied, it is not as silky textured, voluptuous or flamboyant as its siblings. Forget it for 5-7 years and drink it over the following three decades. Drink: 2016 - 2046

The 2007 Cote Rotie la Landonne is another wine that's drinking beautifully today, and this forward, supple character is trait of the vintage. Revealing a perfumed bouquet of smoked beef, tapenade, currants and pepper, it's meaty and gamy, with full-bodied richness and ample, yet sweet tannin. While it won't really hit maturity for another 5-6 years, it certainly dishes out plenty of pleasure now, but will still see it's 30th birthday in fine form.

Glass-staining purple. The wildest and most exotic nose of this set of '07s, offering dark berry preserves, cherry-cola, tarragon and incense along with slow-building notes of black pepper and Asian spices. The sweet, palate-staining black raspberry and cherry compote flavors are enlivened by juicy acidity and framed by velvety tannins that are quickly absorbed by the fruit. Finishes with superb clarity and persistent notes of floral pastilles and allspice.
